In the car seat

Generally when we go for a ride in the car, this is how Satchel passes the time...... Yesterday I took her to the clinic where I work so that everyone could meet her and true to form, she fell asleep on the way.

We are amazed every day at the hair that this girl has! We think it looks somewhat like Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes.

Satchel has learned how to blow bubbles and does it quite a lot now. She always looks very serious while doing it, too. Bubbles are a serious matter.

Visit from Andy and Sarah

Our very good frinds Andy and Sarah from seminary and their son Zebulon came for a visit. Somehow we forgot to take many photos but we had a good time.

Satchel sleeping through the visit to the ape house to see the amazing gorilla exhibit at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Someday when she's older she'll appreciate it more.

New favorite place to nap

Thanks to a reclining porch chair from my parents that we moved onto our balcony, we have a new favorite place to take afternoon naps. The orange tree perfectly shades your face from the afternoon sun.

Trip to the Conservatory

While Aunt Meredith was here, we took a trip on the train to the Garfield Park Conservatory.

At the El stop with the skyline in the background (a bit hazy). We're starting to learn which stops have elevators and are stroller friendly.

The conservatory is a great place (and free!) with lots of kids activities. As Satchel gets older, I'm sure this will be a regular destination for us.

Visit from Aunt Meredith

First trip to the lake with Aunt Meredith (Matt's sister) and Uncle Mark (Emily's brother).

Satchel is the bundle covered in a blanket. She didn't like the breeze and in the end was happiest in her stroller seat covered with a blanket. She then promptly fell asleep.

One of my favorite things to do is take a nap with Satchel snuggling on my stomach/chest.

Visit from Grammy

Grandma Marlene (Grammy - Matt's mom) visited last week.  Here's a few pics.  Since I was still not feeling up to much we did a lot of napping, reading, and going for short walks.  We'll do more next time!
